“The Kings’s Lady”
Are you
interested in fascinating movies which provide you with a valuable insight into
Britain’s history? So don’t miss the brilliant and outstanding acting of Colin
Firth and Maryl Streep in ‘The Kind’s Speech’ and ‘The Iron Lady’ in the roles
of two important and well-known personalities of the 19th and 20th
century: King George VI and Margaret Thatcher.
Not only do
both actors convince you with their stunning performance but they also catch
your attention right at the beginning and leave you highly impressed after the closing
credits. It is hardly surprising then that Colin Firth as well as Maryl Streep
won an award for the best leading actor/actress and got both great reviews in
several newspapers and magazines.
A
considerable difference between these two movies is the historical background
of the main figures. While King George VI is a member of the house of Windsor
and the film shows his assent to the throne, Margaret Thatcher is the first
female prime minister and her political career is reconstructed by several
memories and flashbacks. One particular strength of ‘The King’s Speech’ is the
outstanding dialogue between Colin Firth and his doctor, who is trying to cure
the future king of his stutter. Whereas Maryl Streep impresses the whole audience
with her exceptional talent for not just playing but living the role. That is
why there couldn’t have been a better actress to represent the figure of Margaret
Thatcher in that movie.
Even though
both movies offer a welcome change to the usual fast-moving and action-packed
warstories, I would strongly recommend buying ‘the King’s Speech’ DVD, which is
a definite must-see for all British history-lovers!
Very nice collocations!

I wanted to watch ‘The Kind’s Speech’ when it was launched, but I didn't have a chance to see it. Oh--, it really seems to be a must-see film! If I didn't come across your review, I might not see it, but I'll definitely watch it on DVD in the foreseeable future.
